When burning your Lustre Melbourne soy candle, please be careful and always follow these safety precautions:
- Always burn within sight; never leave a burning candle unattended
- When lighting your candle, we reccommend using a long candle lighter or match. We reccommend using our specially designed candle lighter.
- Keep away from children and pets
- Avoid burning your candle in drafty areas, near an open window or fan, and away from flammable items
- Keep candles away from direct sunlight or other heat sources
- Always burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface
- To prevent 'tunneling' and to create a candle memory, always let the candle wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel
- Allow your candle to cool and harden before re-lighting it
- To prolong the life of your candle, do not burn for more than 3-4 hours at a time, and always keep your wick trimmed to 5mm. Allow the candle to cool and the wax to harden before trimming your wick. We reccommend using our specially designed wick trimmer for this.
- Avoid cutting the wick too short, as it can become engulfed by wax and this can create problems with burning
- Do not use water to extinguish your candle. We reccommend using our specially designed candle snuffer.
- If the vessel becomes black while burning, this is not a fault with the candle, it is due to the wick being too long. Put out your candle and trim the wick once it has cooled and the wax has hardened. You can then clean the vessel by wiping it with a tissue or paper towel
- Do not burn the candle if the glass is chipped or cracked
- Do not move the candle while the wax is liquid
- 'Mushrooming' is a natural character of cotton wicks. Always remove the mushroom before or after each burn to prolong candle life and avoid large flames
- Once your candle has completed its burn time and you are ready to re-use it, simply remove any remaining wax with hot, soapy water. DO NOT pour wax down the drain, as it will solidify and could clog up your pipes
- Do not put your vessels in the dishwasher or microwave
